Being a teen and trying to fit in is hard. But imagine going to high school and having the added obstacle of living with autism. Autism doesn’t make anyone less deserving of friendship, but unfortunately many teens who live with autism are all too aware that others will always look at them differently.
These teens live with high-functioning autism. Just like someone who has dyslexia, they have a learning disability: a social learning disability. Even though it may be difficult for them to communicate with others, they long to have friends just like any other teen. Let’s raise awareness and break the stereotypes!
