Twin Boys, One On The Spectrum: A Family’s Blessing

Twins Patrick and Dominic were born in June of 2009. These two active little boys are like best friends; they get along really well, spend a lot of time together, and enjoy the same things.

When they boys were about two and half years old, their parents, Mike and Lisa Basara, noticed that Dominic was developing differently than Patrick. Dominic had some speech delays that Patrick did not. Also, during family get-togethers and other social events, Patrick would be a part of the action while Dominic would be off by himself. So Mike and Lisa contacted an early intervention program. Turned out, both boys actually qualified for speech therapy. However, Dominic’s speech therapist advised them to get additional therapy and evaluations rolling with Dominic, and the journey to diagnosis began.
