Teenage Years And AutismThe Autism Site
The teenage years are hard for any child to get through, and even harder if you have a condition that limits your vocal communication with those around you. This is the case for Erin, a young girl entering her teenage years who has autism. She deals with all the same troubles a teenager goes through, but doesn’t always understand why they are happening or how to react to different situations. She uses sign language to communicate, has a love of digital clocks and numbers, and also has very specific opinions about how her hair should look. As Erin grows older, her parents struggle with figuring out what the future holds for their family.
Watch as Erin and her parents work to find the balance between teenage life and managing Erin’s autism.
