Got Old, Broken Crayons? This Smarty Activity Will Help Your Child Turn Them Into Beautiful Art!

This month’s Smarty Activity from Autism Live is creating scratch-and-reveal art! There’s something so satisfying about using a coin to rub off the film on a gift card to reveal the code, isn’t there? Well, now you and your child can do it in your own home!

You’ll be able to use up the broken crayons you have lying around (yay for recycling!), and your child will be able to get creative while having fun at the same time! It’s an inexpensive craft that utilizes a few different therapy skills, like pincer grasping and fine motor drawing.

Here are the supplies you’ll need:

  • Old crayons
  • Muffin tin
  • White cardstock
  • Painter’s tape
  • Paint brush
  • Black tempera paint
  • Laundry detergent
  • Shallow bowls
  • BBQ skewers

Ready to beat boredom and have some fun? Then gather what you need to make this activity, and let’s get creative!
