Parents Share Their Experiences In Revealing Their Child Has ASD.

If you’ve just been told that your child has been diagnosed with autism, deciding when, how, and if you should tell other people can be a stressful decision. You may find yourself asking questions like these:

When do I tell those closest to me?

Should I even tell other people?

Who do I tell—just close family and friends, or others, as well?

How do I respond to others’ reactions, especially if they’re not exactly what I was ideally hoping for?

In this video, a few parents share their “coming out” stories as moms and dads of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and they urge other parents to wait until they are comfortable before they share the diagnosis. The last story will hit you especially hard…it is so sweet!

Have you had a “coming out” story yet?

If so, what was your experience like? Let us know in the comments!
