Men’s Age Can Be Risk For Child With Autism

We’ve all heard that the age a mother has her child at has a connection to whether or not their child will be at higher risk of autism. However, recent studies have found that a father’s age is just as much a factor.

Autism in offspring is found in 1 in 1,000 fathers under the age of 39, 1 in 174 in fathers at the age of 40, and 1 in 145 fathers over the age of 40. As a man’s sperm ages it continues to divide compromising the quality of the sperm.
