An eleven-year-old recently wowed a classroom full of his mother’s students when he drew a map of the world entirely from memory. The New York City boy, who has autism, stood on a chair to draw a map that included political boundaries and small coastal islands.
The pictures went viral after a girl in the class showed them to her father. He posted them to Reddit, as user Bobitis, saying, “I just was amazed. Especially as a father of a child with similar attributes.”
Autism can often pose significant obstacles to verbal communication, but uncover alternative ways to showcase unique gifts. This young boy’s ability to commit the map to memory and put pen to paper to recreate it, truly is an incredible talent! What are your child’s creative strengths?
