Improving the Everday Lives of Children on the SpectrumM.M. Sullivan
For children on the spectrum, life can be a daily struggle. Basic social interactions can be confusing, and communication can be incredibly challenging. Families with a child on the spectrum that do what they can to understand the struggle, and to use compassion and the desire to make everyday life more manageable will make a huge difference in their child’s life.
Through therapy, alternative methods of communication, and support from a caring family, a child can overcome the feeling of alienation that can sometimes result from autism spectrum disorder, and can surmount the everyday challenges that come with being on the spectrum.
In the video, EMQ FamiliesFirst’s Dr. Eleanor Castillo Sumi discusses the importance of improving the everyday lives of children with developmental disorders — check it out.
