Have you ever felt that your shyness has held you back? I know I have. If you can relate to that feeling—if you’ve ever felt your thoughts, feelings, desires, or ideas were locked in silence because of fear, you are certainly not alone…and this relatable video shows it.

Harry Shum, Jr. is an award-winning actor/dancer/singer. Most people will remember him as Mike Chang from the TV show, Glee.

When Harry was growing up, he was very shy. He was born in a different country and his English wasn’t perfect. So when people teased him, he withdrew into himself for the sake of self-protection. It wasn’t until he discovered theater and dance that he began to overcome his shyness and express himself.

He created this amazing video entitled “If You Are In A Shell” to describe his journey and to help others along the way. It is beautiful, colorful (literally!), and empowering for anyone who has ever struggled with shyness.
