Artista’s Cafe Employs Young Adults On The Spectrum

At the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Tampa, Florida, the Artista’s Cafe is offering young adults on the spectrum the opportunity to work or intern as a barista. The proceeds from the cafe (as well as the self-service coffee station inside the dealership) go towards Javamo Art For Autism, a non-profit organization.

In the following video clip, you’ll hear from several people involved in the project. Russell Wadsworth, one of the workers who is on the spectrum, says, “When most people think of autism, they may think of somebody who’s not able to function very well, or who’s not able to work well in society, and that’s not the case. Take me for example… I’m able to run a whole cafe by myself.”
