Before autism became more widely known and diagnosed, many people—especially those on the milder end of the spectrum—fell under the radar and went without a diagnosis. And it turns out that Susan Boyle—the woman who became an overnight sensation after her chilling rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream,” is one of them.

Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle learns the truth after a number of incorrect diagnoses telling her she had brain damage. Recently doctors have found that she has Asperger’s Syndrome—not the minor brain damage they had previously been telling her she’d had all her life.

Even though she now has the correct diagnosis, she says it will not make a difference in her life. It is just a condition she will learn to live and work with. Susan Boyle is living proof that you can do anything you put your mind and heart into. Let’s raise awareness for autism!
